Work directly with the Chief Engineer to start, monitor and maintain machinery, assist with engineering operations, handle mooring lines, participate in safety and security drills, enforce crew and passenger safety, stand engine watches, operate fixed fire suppression systems, fill and pump fluids, switch between shore power and generator, and support other departments as requested. Requirements include TSA TWIC, First Aid and CPR, a USCG Merchant Mariner's Document with QMED rating, high school education or equivalent, and two years of qualified engine room experience. A USCG Assistant Engineer's License and additional lifeboat, firefighting and STCW ratings are desired or recommended.
