Collective workshop for current Afro-American music aesthetics, connecting Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Electro Jazz, Funk, Soul and Hip-Hop. Students develop repertoire from listening and notation through arrangement, rhythm section work, technology use and final performance, while relating the material to Jazz improvisation, harmony and rhythm. The course runs for 30 classes per year, 1 hour 30 minutes per week, with 7 to 10 students. Instrumental autonomy is required, with tests and an audition at the start of the year.
