Assist the lead teacher and help implement program activities in the Arts and Literacy Youth Development Program, an afterschool and summer program for youth ages 5 to 14. Responsibilities include supporting literacy-based arts curricula, STEM and academic enrichment activities, one-on-one and small group tutoring, homework help, student supervision and safety, attendance, classroom management, collaboration with teaching artists and instructors, recruitment and retention events, agency events, mandatory trainings, and other assigned duties. Teaching Assistants may teach short lessons and co-lead classes when lead teachers are absent. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have strong organizational, time management, and classroom management skills, understand NYC DOE curricula and DYCD Program Frameworks, have experience working with diverse youth populations, and be available for the full school year and summer program. Youth services experience is preferred, as are Spanish, Mandarin, or French bilingual capabilities. Paid sick leave is provided.
