The Teaching Artist delivers arts and literacy education programming through dynamic, culturally sensitive instruction and project-based learning while supporting students' social-emotional development. Responsibilities include teaching the assigned content area, developing lesson plans and curriculum, creating student presentations and family engagement activities, supervising students and interns, maintaining attendance, communicating with parents, supporting recruitment and retention, participating in events, tournaments and mandatory trainings, and performing other assigned duties. A BA or BFA in the professional content area and 3 years of teaching artist experience are required, along with classroom management, organizational and time management skills, curriculum documentation abilities, knowledge of the NYC arts cultural community, and experience working with diverse youth populations. Occasional weekends and evenings are required. A related master's degree and bilingual capabilities in Spanish, Mandarin or French are preferred.
