The Senior Medical Director partners with the Executive Director, Correctional Health Services, to develop and implement strategic and operational plans. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the role leads medical affairs, oversees medical leaders and day-to-day medical operations, and supports primary, mental health and substance use treatment. Key responsibilities include strategic medical leadership, physician recruitment and retention, medical governance, quality and patient safety, credentialing, performance evaluation, workforce and financial planning, professional conduct matters, and collaboration with internal and external partners. The role requires a Medical Degree and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, at least ten years of recent experience in progressively complex medical leadership roles, and eligibility for a faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia School of Medicine. A master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or Public Health is an asset. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to Indigenous-specific anti-racism, Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility, reconciliation, equity and culturally safe care.
