The Senior Histologist will provide operational coordination and management support within the Histology and In Vitro Team, delivering technical services, data analysis, staff and student training, and research support. Responsibilities include collecting and analysing tissue data, preparing specimens, operating optical microscopes, using image analysis software, coordinating project resources and activities, managing consumables and protocols, supervising casual staff, supporting experimental design, improving histological processes, managing histological data and equipment bookings, and training staff and students. Applicants must have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, proven immunohistochemistry or histopathology experience, project coordination experience in a research, scientific or laboratory environment, experience developing or maintaining SOPs or protocols, and experience using image analysis software such as Imaris and FIJI/ImageJ. Experience contributing to experimental design or developing image analysis pipelines is desirable. The role is based at the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery in Fitzroy and offers a salary of $90,675 to $104,157 base per annum.
