Lead the inflammatory disease research stream within the Vagus Nerve Stimulation Centre of Excellence, driving studies into abdominal vagus nerve stimulation as a potential therapy for inflammatory arthritis, endometriosis and multiple sclerosis. Responsibilities include generating proof-of-principle efficacy data, leading publications and competitive research grants, identifying intellectual property and commercial opportunities, engaging with consumers and clinical collaborators, disseminating research, supervising students and staff, and contributing to research reports, Good Laboratory Practice and intellectual property development. Applicants must have a PhD in immunology, neuroscience and physiology or a closely related discipline focused on inflammatory conditions, at least 4 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience, experience with animal models of inflammation, collaborative multidisciplinary research experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Knowledge of peripheral interfaces and neuromodulation, a strong journal article track record, and experience in community and consumer involvement are desirable. The role is based at St Vincent's Hospital campus, Fitzroy, with flexibility to work from home in accordance with company guidelines.
