The Motherhood Center is seeking a skilled Music Therapist to conduct two weekly group music therapy sessions for patients experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders in its day program, a perinatal partial hospital program, in Northern New Jersey. Responsibilities include assessing patients' emotional and mental health needs, designing treatment approaches, addressing mothering and parenting themes while engaging babies in the room, using listening, songwriting, improvisation and lyric analysis, collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers, maintaining client records and progress notes, and staying informed about current music therapy research and best practices. Candidates must have a bachelor's or master's degree in music therapy, board certification as an MT-BC, strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Mental health experience is preferred, along with compassion, empathy, a nonjudgmental attitude, and knowledge of varied musical styles and instruments. This is a per diem position.
