Hamilton-Madison House Behavioral Health Services offers an APA-accredited psychology internship designed to prepare graduate students for clinical practice with a diagnostically and culturally diverse, underserved population. Interns conduct clinical assessments and intakes under licensed psychologist supervision, provide individual, group, couple and family therapy, psychological evaluation, crisis intervention, case management, phone screening and consultation, and participate in seminars, supervision, case conferences and interdisciplinary meetings. Interns typically conduct 10 to 20 long and short-term treatment sessions weekly, maintain four to five hours of daily face-to-face patient contact, complete at least two psychological evaluations during the internship year, and participate in a 15-week inpatient psychiatry rotation at Gracie Square Hospital. The schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional evening hours ending no later than 6:30 pm. The program prepares three graduate students and requires 1,750 hours of internship experience. Applicants must have completed at least three years of study in a regionally accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program in the United States, with at least 500 direct contact intervention hours and 25 direct contact assessment hours required at application. Preference is given to applicants who speak Mandarin and/or Cantonese, while candidates speaking other Asian languages or English only may also be considered. The full-time internship provides an annual stipend of $34,125, access to medical insurance with no trainee contribution, 15 days of paid personal time off, 12 days of paid sick leave and three discretionary days.
