Full-time position based at the Terrace Courthouse at 260-3408 Kalum Street, Terrace, BC. The role supports Indigenous clients navigating the BC justice system and covers Terrace, Kitimat, New Aiyansh, Prince Rupert, Dease Lake and Stewart. Duties include providing support on court procedures and processes, arranging or attending court and legal appointments, assisting with affidavits and legal forms, supporting accused persons in navigating the criminal justice system, providing referrals, maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation, maintaining partnerships with supporting agencies and programs, and ensuring cultural support. Applicants require at least two years of criminology or directly related work and lived experience. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions, justice systems, criminal procedures, and restorative justice principles is required or preferred, along with effective oral and written communication, the ability to travel, and a Class 5 driver's licence. Microsoft Word, Excel, internet and database management experience is an asset. The successful candidate will be subject to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and must agree to join the BC General Employees' Union. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.
