Full-time position based at the Port Hardy Office, reporting to the Regional Manager. Act as an intermediary between Indigenous accused and the criminal justice system by providing support with court procedures and processes, arranging or attending court and legal appointments, assisting with affidavits and legal forms, supporting accused people in navigating the criminal justice system, providing referrals to complementary and alternative services, maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation, maintaining partnerships with supporting agencies and programs, and ensuring cultural support is provided. Applicants require at least two years of criminology or directly related work and lived experience. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions, justice systems, criminal procedures, and restorative justice principles is required or beneficial, along with effective oral and written communication, problem-solving and independent judgement. Microsoft Word, Excel, internet and database management knowledge is an asset. A Class 5 driver's licence and the ability to travel are required. The successful candidate will be subject to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check. Salary is $57,716.64 to $67,204.98 per year, as per the BCGEU Salary Grid.
