Functional brain imaging, including FDG PET, DAT scan and amyloid PET, is considered on a case-by-case basis when clinical assessment and structural imaging leave important diagnostic questions unresolved. Investigations are selected and interpreted within the full clinical context and may support diagnostic clarification of cognitive symptoms. It is not routinely required for every patient and does not determine diagnosis in isolation.
