A long-term care insurance benefit available when the main caregiver is unavailable due to holiday, illness or private appointments. Replacement care can be provided by the care service, through short-term care or by another private person. The benefit can be combined with other services. The maximum amount is around 3,500 EUR. Eligibility generally starts at care grade 2. An application must be submitted to the long-term care insurance fund, with support available from the service.

A monthly benefit from long-term care insurance to support independence at home and relieve caregiving relatives. Available to everyone with care grade 1 to 5, it can be used for household support, everyday assistance or group activities. Basic care services such as washing, showering and dressing are excluded, except that basic care can be billed through this benefit for care grade 1.

Pflegeberatung

Mandatory care consultation under Section 37(3) SGB XI for people receiving care allowance and being cared for at home. The consultation reviews whether current care is sufficient and provides advice on additional services and aids. For people with care grades 2 to 5, consultation is mandatory every 6 months. Costs are covered by the long-term care insurance fund. People with care grade 1 may also request a consultation.

Medical home care including wound care, changing dressings, putting on and removing compression stockings, administering medication by injection, and catheter and stoma care. Treatment requires a doctor's prescription and is covered by statutory health insurance, not long-term care insurance.

Support with personal hygiene, preparing and eating meals, mobility, household management, shopping, appointments, toileting and incontinence care. Services can be billed through long-term care insurance from care grade 2, or booked as self-pay services. Support is planned according to individual needs in an initial consultation.
