Heitman is seeking a seasoned Asset Manager to join its North American Private Equity team in Chicago. The role oversees and optimises performance across multifamily portfolios, working with Portfolio Management, Acquisitions, Financial Operations and Analysis, joint venture stakeholders and third-party property managers. Responsibilities include managing apartment portfolios, developing income and expense forecasts, leasing plans and capital budgets, evaluating performance, driving value-add initiatives, preparing budgets and valuations, leading financial analysis and modelling, supporting acquisitions, managing joint venture relationships, leading dispositions, assisting with financings and refinancings, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees. Candidates should have at least 10 years of professional real estate experience, including at least 5 years actively asset managing multifamily assets. The role requires expertise in asset management strategies, value-add programmes, dispositions, financing transactions, budgeting, financial reporting, market analysis, valuation and appraisal, advanced financial modelling using ARGUS and Microsoft Excel, and relationship management. Experience with Power BI is a plus. Familiarity with construction, redevelopment, apartment-focused proptech and real estate legal documentation is also required. Leadership, mentoring and communication skills are important. The position is based in Heitman's Chicago office and requires moderate to extensive travel. The expected annual base salary range is $160,000 to $190,000, with eligibility for an annual bonus plan and benefits.
