Lead, plan and manage the delivery of high quality, culturally safe, client-focused and holistic legal assistance across an area of Victoria. Foster a positive and staff-supportive culture, provide leadership, operational support and supervision to Legal Services staff, and collaborate with the Legal Practice Manager in managing Legal Services. Responsibilities include supervising lawyers and practitioners, managing community legal education, monitoring caseload KPIs, maintaining a small caseload of complex matters where appropriate, managing staff and volunteers, engaging with stakeholders, contributing to law reform and advocacy, and ensuring compliance with legal, professional and accreditation requirements. Applicants must demonstrate leadership and people management skills, experience recruiting, supervising and developing staff, the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, knowledge of family violence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and a minimum of five years of casework and advocacy experience in family law, family violence law, child protection and/or victims of crime assistance. Applicants must be qualified legal practitioners holding, or eligible to hold, an unrestricted Victorian Practising Certificate, and hold or obtain a Working with Children Check and Police Check. The role is located in Abbotsford or another Djirra office and is offered on a full-time, ongoing basis.
