Central Synagogue seeks a strategic, collaborative, and highly experienced communications leader to shape and lead its communications, marketing, and brand strategy. The role oversees brand, storytelling, content creation, digital platforms, media, and communications, leads the evolution of the website, email, social media, livestreaming, and emerging platforms, and supports a rebranding effort. Responsibilities include developing multi-channel communications strategy, creating narratives around complex and sensitive topics, serving as a thought partner to senior leadership, leading and developing a communications team of four direct reports, and building resources for a high-performing Marketing and Communications team. The position reports to the Executive Director and requires 15+ years of senior-level communications leadership, strategic communications and marketing experience, creative storytelling ability, political savvy, team management experience, strong collaboration and writing skills, strategic execution, calm decision-making in high-pressure situations, and deep knowledge of the Jewish faith. The role is based in New York City or within easily commutable distance and follows a hybrid schedule with four days in the office and one day remote. Support for events may include weekends and evenings, and working on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is required. The expected salary range is $225,000 to $275,000, with an extensive benefits package.
