Support Indigenous clients navigating the BC justice system and act as an intermediary between Indigenous accused and the criminal justice system. Duties include providing support on court procedures and processes, arranging or attending court and legal appointments, assisting with affidavits and legal forms, providing referrals, maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation, developing partnerships with supporting agencies and programs, and ensuring cultural support. Applicants require at least two years of criminology or directly related work and lived experience, knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions, some knowledge of justice systems and criminal procedures, effective oral and written communication skills, a Class 5 driver's licence, and the ability to travel. Microsoft Word, Excel, internet and database management experience would be an asset. The successful candidate will be subject to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
