The Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of British Columbia is seeking an Indigenous Youth and Family Advocate to support Indigenous First Nations, Inuit and Metis families engaged in, or at risk of becoming engaged in, the court process. Duties include providing guidance, support, advocacy, referrals, connections and education; supporting families involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development; establishing networks with Indigenous representatives, delegated agencies, service providers and lawyers; providing formal advocacy; and maintaining working relationships with service providers, professionals and Indigenous representatives. Candidates require a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care or a related field, at least one year of related experience, and knowledge of the court process. Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions, relevant legislation, effective oral and written communication, and the ability to travel are required. A Class 5 driver's licence is required, and the successful candidate will be subject to a Criminal Record Check. The position covers Prince George, Quesnel, McBride and MacKenzie, and is based in Prince George.
