Includes an initial consultation with a Speech Language Pathologist, assessment and diagnosis of communication problems, and treatment following a prescribed plan of care to rehabilitate basic communication skills. Services address communication, feeding and swallowing difficulties, including swallowing disorders. Individual treatment plans may reteach speaking, reading or writing, improve auditory comprehension, promote alternative communication systems, strengthen oral muscles for speech and swallowing, teach esophageal speech or use of an electro-larynx, and improve orientation, memory and decision-making skills.
