Platelet Rich Plasma Injection

at Ultrasound Guided Injections · London

Details.

A treatment for pain associated with degenerative joint and tendon problems, including osteoarthritis, tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis. Blood is drawn from a vein in the arm, processed in a centrifuge to produce platelet-rich plasma, and injected into the affected joint or tendon under ultrasound guidance. The appointment lasts around 45 minutes and includes approximately 20 minutes of observation after the injection. Treatment is typically offered as a series of 3 injections, usually 2 weeks apart. Patients are advised to stay well hydrated, avoid strenuous exercise for 5 days afterwards, and may need to rest for 5 to 7 days. Avoid NSAIDs for 1 week before and 4 weeks after treatment. PRP injections are not offered to patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
