Volunteer Mental Health Therapist

Volunteer one day per week, 7.5 hours across five sessions, delivering free, identity-affirming and healing-centred individual therapeutic support to LGBTIQAPSB+ forcibly displaced participants through hybrid in-person and telehealth formats. Responsibilities include developing participant-led therapeutic plans, navigating language, cultural and systemic barriers, making referrals, maintaining ethical clinical records, compiling reports and treatment letters, responding to participant risk, maintaining confidentiality, contributing to reflective practice, and engaging in supervision and professional development. Applicants need a tertiary qualification in a mental health or allied health discipline with current relevant registration or membership, experience providing individual therapeutic support to adults, experience with LGBTIQAPSB+, neurodivergent and/or global majority communities, understanding of intersectionality, the Minority Stress Model and trauma-responsive frameworks, strong communication skills, a Working with Children Check and a National Police Check. Trauma modality training, experience with forcibly displaced communities and relevant language skills are desirable. The role offers clinical supervision, therapeutic resources, clinical support and an affirming multidisciplinary team environment.
