UnLocal, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney to join its Rapid Response team within the Rapid Response Legal Collaborative. The role leads complex removal defense and post-order litigation, including motions to reopen, stays of removal, appeals, federal court work, and emergency filings. Responsibilities include representing clients before Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and federal courts, conducting legal screenings, developing legal strategies, participating in cross-organizational case planning, mentoring legal staff, supporting trainings, and contributing to community education and rapid response networks. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor degree and admission, or eligibility for admission, to the New York bar, Southern District of New York, and Second Circuit Court of Appeals, with 5 to 7 years of immigration legal experience including removal defense. Strong advocacy, organizational, and case management skills, experience with immigrant communities, and a commitment to racial justice, immigrant rights, and community-centered legal advocacy are required. Spanish, French, or another language spoken by UnLocal's client population is preferred. This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Supervising Litigation Attorney. Salary is $84,000, with employer-covered health, dental, and vision insurance, 40 days of PTO plus winter break closure, 401(k), commuter and wellness benefits, a professional development stipend, sabbatical eligibility after 3 years, a hybrid policy requiring one day in the office, and flexible Fridays. Occasional weekend availability is required.
