Volunteer board position for individuals based in New York City or within commuting distance. Board responsibilities include providing organizational leadership and advice to the Executive Director and Management Team, overseeing financial management and the annual budget, developing policies and strategic plans, recruiting and developing board members, supporting staff, serving as an ambassador for UnLocal, supporting fundraising, attending quarterly board meetings and an annual retreat, making a personally significant annual financial contribution, and completing committee assignments. UnLocal seeks expertise in human resources and people management, nonprofit fundraising and event planning, nonprofit finance and accounting, strategic planning, marketing and communications, mental health services or policy, legal matters including immigration, community organizing, arts or design, and individuals with high giving capacities and net worth networks. The organization prioritizes diverse immigration backgrounds, ages, race and ethnicities, disabilities, gender identities, and experiences. The term is three years and may be renewed up to six years total. Applicants participate in an introductory call and interview, submit a resume and one-page cover letter, meet with the Executive Director, attend an UnLocal community event, and participate in a mixer with board members and staff.
