Manage Sands' volunteer befriender programme across the UK, ensuring befrienders provide warm, supportive, evidence-based and values-driven support to bereaved families. The role involves developing the befriender role, promoting ongoing training, recruiting and managing befrienders, promoting diversity, maintaining policies, procedures and records, supporting volunteer recruitment and development, managing the volunteer journey, delivering orientation materials, reporting on befriending, maintaining databases and metrics, and working with internal teams, volunteers and external stakeholders. Essential experience includes volunteering within the charity sector, engaging geographically dispersed volunteers through communication strategies and online platforms, developing equality, equity, diversity and inclusion programmes, building stakeholder relationships, drafting guidance and reports, using IT packages, managing varied workloads, and working collaboratively. The role is home-based with some travel around the UK, occasional evening or weekend work may be required, and includes a permanent contract of 35 hours per week.
