Work in an outpatient setting examining and treating adults with a wide range of conditions, referring patients to specialists when necessary, and providing comprehensive medical care. Duties include taking patient histories, performing and requesting diagnostic tests, making diagnoses, prescribing treatment, administering vaccinations, conducting follow-up examinations, educating patients on prevention and health maintenance, maintaining medical records, referring patients to specialists, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice, participating in rotating weekend staffing, and working as part of the clinical team. Requirements include successful completion of an accredited program, previous hospital or clinic experience, knowledge of New York mandated reporting laws, ability to work with culturally diverse patients and communities, New York State licensure, a DEA certificate, experience in family practice, and meeting CME requirements for New York licensure and board certification. The position requires clinical judgment, patient communication, record keeping, teamwork and regular predictable attendance.
