Work in an outpatient setting examining and treating adults with a wide range of conditions, referring patients to specialists when necessary, and providing comprehensive medical care. Duties include patient assessments, diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment, monitoring conditions, explaining test results and treatments, providing health education, maintaining medical records, prescribing medication, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, supporting quality assurance and utilization reviews, applying medical coding knowledge, mentoring junior medical staff, participating in rotating weekend staffing, and completing administrative assignments. Requirements include successful completion of an accredited family medicine residency with one to three years of experience, a Doctor of Medicine degree, current board certification by the ABFM or AOBFM, a current DEA certificate, previous hospital or clinic experience, a valid New York State medical license, experience in family practice, understanding of New York mandated reporting laws, ability to work with culturally diverse patients and communities, and compliance with CME requirements.
