PHS Community Services Society is seeking a resourceful handyperson with diverse maintenance skills to work among frontline staff supporting marginalized people. This role combines Maintenance Worker and Mental Health Worker responsibilities, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical and building maintenance, preventative maintenance, garbage and hazardous material disposal, building reports, purchasing, and emergency repairs. The role also involves interacting with residents, providing social, emotional and behaviour management support, de-escalating hostile interactions, responding to resident-related emergencies, and assisting with first aid, overdose response and CPR when necessary. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent experience, at least two years of maintenance or construction experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, awareness of mental health and substance use issues, and current First Aid and CPR certification. A valid Class 5 BC driver's licence is preferred. PHS offers supportive multidisciplinary teams, opportunities for internal progression, extended healthcare, dental and vision care, and a pension. This permanent, unionized CUPE 5536 position is regular full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, at $31.56 per hour.
