Johnson & Bell is seeking a Director of HR and Staff Operations to lead and evolve human resources functions for its growing litigation firm. Based in Chicago, the role supports attorneys and professional staff across the Chicago headquarters and Crown Point, Indiana office, reports to the COO, and partners with firm leadership to modernize HR practices, enhance employee experience and ensure operational excellence across non-legal personnel functions. The ideal candidate has professional services experience and can set strategy while executing day-to-day initiatives. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in human resources, business or a related field, 8 or more years of progressive HR experience including 3 or more years in leadership, expertise in benefits design, vendor management and compliance, HRIS and payroll systems knowledge, understanding of multi-state employment laws, and strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills. A master's degree and HR certification are preferred. The salary range is $140,000 to $175,000, based on experience, with comprehensive benefits, paid time off and professional development support.
