Work within GP practices to improve patient care through the safe and effective use of medicines. Duties include providing expert prescribing advice, supporting medication reviews, managing long-term conditions, implementing medicines optimisation initiatives, ensuring compliance with NICE guidance, reducing clinical risk, improving prescribing processes and promoting cost-effective choices. Requirements include mandatory registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, a Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, completion of the 18-month CPPE pathway or active progress towards it, and being an Independent Prescriber or actively working towards this qualification.
