Lead frontline care for vulnerable adults in their own homes, day care centres, residential and nursing homes, and other healthcare settings. The role involves supporting individuals facing physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges, helping them maintain independence, dignity and control. Responsibilities include providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery, improving the health and wellbeing of people receiving care, and in some circumstances supervising other care workers. The programme typically lasts 18 months. Entry requirements are grades 9-4, including English Language and maths, with at least one of English Language or maths at grade 9-4. Functional Skills qualifications may be accepted as equivalent. Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths must achieve this before the end-point assessment. The role may specialise in learning disability, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homecare, dementia or end-of-life care.
