Responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. Duties include greeting patients, explaining specimen collection procedures, performing phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting Holter monitors, performing ECG tracings and special test collections, maintaining client relationships, completing patient data entry, and preparing specimens for transportation and testing. Preferred qualifications include graduation from an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent, phlebotomy experience, ECG training or experience as an asset, excellent communication and computer skills, a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute, strong customer and patient service skills, empathy, flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality. A valid G driver's licence and reliable vehicle are required.
