Ultrasound or CT guided injection of botulinum toxin type A into the muscle by a radiologist. Used to reduce muscle bulk, muscle contracture, involuntary muscle activity and increased muscle tone associated with pain, spasticity or selected musculoskeletal conditions. Anaesthetic may be administered beforehand to numb the area. Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours after the procedure, and arrange for someone to drive you home.
