Orchidopexy

at Dr Michael Nightingale · Melbourne

Details.

Surgical procedure to move an undescended testicle into the scrotum, commonly performed in children when one or both testicles have not moved down on their own. Usually performed as a day-case under general anaesthesia, with techniques including a groin or scrotal incision, or a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach for higher testicles. Mild pain or swelling is common after surgery and is usually managed with paracetamol or ibuprofen. Most children are pain-free within 24 hours and can return to normal activities within a few days.
