Details.
Wedge resection for severe, infected, painful or recurrent ingrown toenails. Usually performed under general anaesthesia, or with sedation and local anaesthesia. The affected side of the nail and nail root are removed, with a small dissolving suture and bandage if required. After surgery, keep the toe clean and dry, elevate the foot for a couple of days, and remove the bandage after 5 days. Most children can return to normal activities within a week.
