The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership is seeking expressions of interest from retired principals to become mentors as part of the Principal Mentoring Program. Mentors provide principals with firsthand experience and an understanding of the exciting, unique and challenging aspects of the role. Mentors support mentees in gaining greater personal satisfaction and growth, improved decision-making skills, increased confidence in professional competencies, opportunities to discuss new ideas before implementing them, and improved emotional wellbeing. Mentors also continue contributing to education and improving student outcomes, gain new skills and insights from their mentee, develop opportunities for self-reflection and personal and professional growth, and develop partnerships and networks with other retired principals. Applicants must be retired principals who are not currently employed in teaching or the public service.
