Ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration to remove fluid or cells from a thyroid cyst or nodule, helping determine its nature and plan treatment or drain a large or painful cyst. A doctor's referral and appointment are required. Advise the clinic if you take blood-thinning medication and bring your request form, previous imaging, Medicare card and concession cards. Allow about one hour. The biopsy site may be tender or bruised afterwards, but normal activities can usually be resumed.
