Details.
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy uses high-energy acoustic waves delivered through a handheld device to stimulate the body's natural healing response in chronically irritated or treatment-resistant tissue. It is a non-invasive procedure with no injections, surgery or downtime, and is used for conditions including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints, heel pain, and peroneal and tibialis posterior tendinopathy. A thorough assessment is completed before treatment to confirm suitability. Most people return to normal daily activities immediately after each session, although soreness in the treated area may occur for 24 to 48 hours. High-impact activity is generally best avoided for 48 hours after treatment. Treatment is typically provided over three to six sessions, usually spaced one week apart.
