A less invasive, non-surgical approach to replace the pulmonary valve. The procedure uses a bovine valve sutured inside a balloon expandable stent. It involves anesthesia, catheter insertion through the groin, contrast dye, X-ray and ultrasound, followed by recovery and constant monitoring in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit for a day or two. A pre-admission clinic appointment is set up 2 to 4 weeks before the procedure, and follow-up takes place 8 to 12 weeks afterward.
