A heart catheterization procedure to close a Patent Ductus Arteriosus. Under local anesthesia, a tube is placed in a vein near the groin and used to position a plug in the PDA to block blood flow. Patients should bring a list of current medications, arrive 15 minutes before the appointment, and have a friend or family member present to accompany them home. Follow-up includes a visit 8 to 12 weeks after the procedure, a CT scan of the aorta, and an angiogram 8 to 12 months later.
