Details.
A surgical procedure to repair tears in the abdominal wall using small incisions, a laparoscope and surgical mesh. It may offer a quicker return to work and normal activities with less pain for some patients, and results in a smaller scar. Preoperative preparation may include blood work, medical evaluation, chest X-ray and an ECG depending on age and medical condition. Most operations are performed on an outpatient basis, with patients usually going home the same day. Follow-up should be scheduled within two weeks after the operation.
