Obstetrical ultrasound that may be requisitioned by a doctor during the third trimester to assess the baby's size, including when a mother is past her due date or when the baby appears significantly larger than expected. It may also be performed as a precaution after problems in a previous pregnancy or due to high risk factors such as previous pregnancy loss in the second half of pregnancy, high blood pressure, diabetes or intrauterine growth retardation.
