Includes a pre-operation outpatient consultation and pre-assessment, stereotactic head frame fitting, MRI or CT planning scans, individual treatment planning, Gamma Knife radiotherapy, and post-treatment observation. Patients are usually awake and able to communicate with the treatment team during treatment. Most patients return home the same day, although an overnight stay may be recommended. Follow-up imaging such as MRI or CT may be undertaken 3 to 12 months after treatment.
