An advanced endoscopic procedure used to examine and treat problems in the bile and pancreatic ducts and the gallbladder. An endoscope is advanced through the mouth to the duodenum, where contrast dye is injected and X-rays are taken to identify blockages, stones, tumours or other duct irregularities. If abnormalities are found, techniques may be performed to improve the condition, including widening or cutting the papilla and removing stones from the duct.
