Endomicroscopy obtains histology-like images from inside the human body in real time, a process known as optical biopsy. Applications include imaging the gastrointestinal tract, particularly for the diagnosis and characterisation of Barrett's oesophagus, pancreatic cysts and colorectal lesions.
