EUS can help diagnose conditions causing abdominal pain or abnormal weight loss, evaluate lumps or lesions found during previous examinations or imaging, diagnose diseases of the pancreas, bile duct and gallbladder, assess the spread of certain digestive system cancers, and obtain a needle biopsy in some patients.
