Details.
A certified physical therapist inserts a very thin needle into a tender muscle spot to trigger a contract and relax response, helping draw oxygenated blood to the painful area, release muscle tension, and promote healing. It may benefit back, neck, sciatic, shoulder, elbow, hip, headache, foot, and ankle pain. Most people do not feel the needle insertion, though mild cramping or twitching may occur. Exercise and normal activities are encouraged afterward. Stay hydrated, gently massage the muscle, and keep moving after the session. Not offered in New York state, but available in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
