It incorporates individual therapy, group skills training and phone coaching, and is structured around mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance. It may assist with borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and interpersonal relationship issues. An initial consultation is used to assess individual needs and determine whether DBT is appropriate.
