Details.
A Cone Beam CT creates a three-dimensional image of the jaw, teeth and temporomandibular joints. It can be used to plan dental surgery, assess the jaw and teeth, assess teeth in relation to nerves, and assess pathology. A referral from your doctor and an appointment are required. No preparation is required, but you will need to remove jewellery, hair ties or metal objects from the head and face area. The examination takes only a few seconds. A CD containing the images and 3D reconstructions is provided, and a report is provided by the reporting doctor within 48 hours. If you are or may be pregnant, inform the radiology team.
