MRI of the breast provides detailed images of breast tissue and may be used for high-risk breast cancer assessment, evaluating the extent of diagnosed breast cancer, and examining breast implants. A referral and appointment are required. Bookings should be made for days 7 to 11 of the menstrual cycle if cycles are ongoing. Please arrive 30 minutes before the appointment. The scan is performed lying on your stomach and contrast may be required, except when scanning for breast implant ruptures.
