Details.
A calm, objective hearing assessment for children aged 6 months to 2 years. Includes discussion of the child's hearing and general health history, ear images using a specialised camera, tympanometry to assess middle ear function, automated DPOAE hearing testing, discussion of results, and a report sent to referring doctors and the parent or guardian. More advanced testing may be attempted if the child is nearly ready for tests used in the comprehensive 3+ assessment. Suitable for children with hearing concerns, speech or language delays, repeated ear infections, blocked ears, ear tugging, selective hearing, or children being assessed before or after grommet surgery. A GP or specialist referral is not required to book, but is needed for a Medicare rebate. Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early and complete the intake form if attending as a new patient. Follow-up is typically recommended after six weeks if needed, and reports are usually sent within 1 to 2 days.
